French Toast Made with WaiŪ Bread
As light as a cloud!
Ingredients:
4 slices of Waiū Bread (the soft, sweet bread we love)
2 large eggs
2/3 cup heavy cream (or full-fat coconut milk)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp sugar (for a hint of sweetness)
Butter (for frying)
Fresh fruit, like strawberries (for topping)
Instructions:
Prepare the egg-cream mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix in the sugar until it's fully dissolved.
Soak the bread: Dip each slice of Waiū Bread into the egg mixture. Let each slice soak for about 2-3 minutes, ensuring both sides are coated well. Allow excess egg mixture drip off before frying.
Cook the French Toast: Heat up a pan or griddle on medium heat, then melt the butter. Once the butter’s bubbling and smells ono, place your soaked bread slices on the pan. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they’re golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Serve: Plate the French Toast and drizzle with your favorite toppings!
Enjoy: Dig in and enjoy the soft, decadent and custardy goodness!
Extra Topping Ideas:
Coconut Syrup: If you’re feeling extra indulgent, drizzle on some coconut syrup for an even richer flavor.
Condensed Milk: SOOO GOOD. I don’t even have the words to explain how good this is.
Salted Maple Foam: Whip up 1/4 cup of remaining heavy cream with 1 1/2 tablespoon of maple syrup, plus a pinch of salt and boom! A light, creamy and sweet topping!
Toasted Macadamia Nuts: Sprinkle some toasted macadamia nuts on top for a delicious roasted flavor that compliments the toast well!
Strawberries: The sweet tartness of strawberries compliments the custardy french toast well!
